Anyone doing B&W macro photography?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Creativity, Etc. : One Thread

I posted this question as an add-on to a question in the film forum, but either it went unnoticed or there were no thoughts, so I wanted to try again.

I've been wondering how many people are doing B&W macro photography, especially nature oriented. I've been contemplating adding a macro lens, but I have had difficulty finding examples of B&W macro work (aside from some staged still lifes). Any comments or ideas?

I've chased the odd critter around with B&W film in the camera... I took quite a few of this centipede thing we call a 'wiggly woggly' but couldn't get all of him in focus at the one time... must try it again with a couple of flashguns to let me stop down a lot more. Sorry haven't got any examples of the Wiggly Woggly on-line. As with most B&W subjects, the light and shadows in the pic are going to seperate a 'desaturated colour pic' from a great B&W pic. Heres a B&W macro flower pic...

(if this works!)

See the current issue of Lenswork Quarterly, which has a portfolio of macro "bug" photographs.
