I know we have seen and read all the responces pertaining to Kellie Martins character Lucy dying, but I just watched on TNT the epi, "The Good Fight" and even though I probably have seen it at least four times now, it still affected me the same way. If not more so, knowing that Lucy is dead. In fact, this episode actually made feel even more saddness, knowing in the future Lucy died. I was deeply touched through the whole hour of watching this epi., especially at the end when Carter had his arm around her, consoling her and it still touched me. My immediate thought at the end was...."Yes!! They are going to get those two together." (Carter and Lucy) But, then I realized...."No they aren't, Lucy is dead." They have/had a chemistry together that I haven't seen between to fictional characters (besides the X-Files, Mulder and Scully) in a long time. Hats off to Noah Wyle, I know the writers of the show have alot to do with his character, but he just makes Dr. Carter, well, real and lovable. And to Lucy, well, I loved her. Going to sadly miss her character. I am sorry for the long and probably confusing discussion, but it just hit me in a way that I had to, well, "let out!" Paula

I agree, I have only seen all of this episode once (I do not have cable/TNT and therefore I have to wait 'til the WB station airs it on the weekends :P ), but I remember it and it's sad looking back and seeing how great they were together (romantically or not) and realizing that the writers just kind of gave up on their relationship completely and made them argue pretty much all the way through the end of the fifth season to where we are now. I hope that they will remember that they did have a caring relationship and that Carter should miss her as a friend...remember after that show how Carter found out he was exposed to TB and Lucy was concerned and then Lucy accidently got stabbed with the needle when a patient jerked and Carter was very persistent in taking care that she wasn't exposed to HIV? And then of course he got jealous of her and Dale. I honestly believe that they argued so much because of the romantic tension they left. They could not act on it, so they were frustrated about their uncertain feelings, and so they both uncharacteristically rebelled against each other. This is how it is in real life.

I completely agree with both of you. After watching that episode on TNT last night I remember that Lucy and Carter were friends, and that their character's cared about each other. Now that Lucy's is dead I really hope that the writer's address the fact that Lucy and Carter were friends as well as teacher and student, and that Carter lost his friend not just his student. I guess I fear that the writer's will address Lucy's death the same way they addressed Gant's death (in relation to Benton). Also someone earlier mentioned that we haven't seen Elizabeth and Carter discussing Lucy's last moments, perhaps this will happen in the future and serve as some closure for Carter.

I agree with you guys. I know that Lucy and Carter wouldn't get together romantically - and didn't nessisairly (sp) want that. But I do think that they came to respect eachother and became friends. Just my opinion.
