Happy Rhodes.

She sounds like a duet between "Kate Bush" and "some guy." Her octave range is incredible. Her lyrics are awesome. My favourite album of hers is (of course) a rarity called "The Keep."

October Project.

Moody moor music. Lovely, inspiring, makes me cry and laugh at the same time.

Jane Siberry.

Specifically "When I was a Boy" - performance art ala Laurie Anderson. But nothing like Laurie at

Color and Light:Jazz Sketches on Sondheim - I'm a huge Stephen Sondheim fan, and his complex music lends itself beautifully to the jazz treatment. Many of the songs sre simply breath-taking.

Johnstown - Oh Susanna - Fabulous Canadian folk music by a very affecting singer/songwriter.

Valleys - John Sokoloff and Twilight Blue - Wonderful instrumental music with strong Russian and Latin influences. Good luck finding it, though. The only reason I have the CD is because it was a Christmas present from Sokoloff's sister and brother-in-law. You can find info on another of his albums at http://kspace.com/twilight.

There are many others, but those are the lesser known CDs in my collection.

For guitar music, I can recommend Billy McLaughlin. He makes one acoustic guitar sound like a lot more. Of course, LAGQ (Los Angeles Guitar Quartet) really amaze me with their versatility and virtuousity.

Woohoo! So many fellow Kate Bush fans! I feel that people don't give Kate enough of a chance much of the time. I'd totally recommend any of her early CDs to just about anyone, especially her demos, which are haunting. If you'd like to hear any of her really early demo stuff, you can find links for downloading the MP3s on my site. Don't worry--it doesn't rob her of any money, since these songs aen't in commercial circulation at all.

One of my favorites these days is Jann Arden's Living Under June. It's a great album.

Also spending some time in the slot lately is Women & Songs 2, which for you Americans is an import. Great mix CD, though. Volumes 1 and 3 are great too, but 2 is my fave.

Sting-Nothing Like the Sun and All This Time, anything by U2, Norah Jones, Ani DiFranco-Living in Clip, The Sundays-Blind, anything by Cocteau Twins I'm leaving some out but these come to mind first.
