John Travolta "+" or "-" dancing

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Squishy : One Thread

I have read your journal several times and normally enjoy my time spent in your cyberspace. But tonight while I was reading through your entry "more letters", I came across the oddest thing. Let me preface this by totally agreeing with your Johnny Depp stance. But, I'm not quite sure I can agree on any level with your take on the Travolta thing. I could probably pass on the Dianetics movie until it comes out on cable. But John Travolta movie "+" dancing = good except for Michael and Staying Alive = bad. Either you thought Michael and Staying Alive sucked(let me be clear here, Staying Alive did suck), or you forgot the bar room dancing scene in Michael (and how could you). Is it me, am I missing something, or are we having our first serious disagreement? I would sooner believe that I have become somewhat clearheaded and therefore missed some intrinsic portion of your message. I anxiously await resolution to this quandry.

I did not forget the dancing sequence in Michael. I really didn't like that movie.

Lardy, I can't stand me some Andie MacDowell.

What I can't remember is if there's dancing in Phenomenon. (Didn't like at all)

Glad I'm not the only one who's noticed that Travolta dances in almost every movie he's been in. Seriously, anybody know what percentage of his movies involves him dancing? Here are the ones I can think of:

Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Staying Alive, Urban Cowboy (I think), Look Who's Talking Too (didja like *that* one, Pamie?), Pulp Fiction, Michael. Any others?

Travolta also danced in Look who's talking, a short little number with Kirstie Alley in the kitchen, to I believe "A Town Without Pity", and also to "Walking on Sunshine" with the baby. But the real question is, did he ever dance as Barbarino on Welcome Back, Kotter.

I'm pretty sure he had a dance number in "The Experts" (co-staring Arye Gross, you know, Ellen's neighbor) with Kelly Preston. That's where he wooed her with his flabby, pale and very un-Stayin'-Alivey hairy belly. If you couldn't tell, I've never really liked Travolta outside of his gangster characters. Well, maybe Barbarino. But now he's just scary to look at. It's time you started thinking about your jowls.
