using Coolpix 950 with studio flash

How can I use the 950 with Broncolor flash units? - do I need a synch attachment of some sort? - how can I set the camera to full manual exposure mode?

cheers,

We don't support use of non-Nikon flash units with your 950. Please refer to www.nikon-euro.com for more details.

Though nikon does not support connecting third party or pro studio flash, you can still connect it by using Nikon's multiflash adapter AS-E900 ($35) which has 3 nikon-only flash sync sockets and a hot-shoe. You then get Wein's Safe- Sync ($52!!) hot shoe voltage regulator, Calumet# CG1120, which has a regular PC socket that you can use to connect any strobes or flash. This is a pretty important adapter because it keeps the voltage from destroying the substandard nikon circuitry. All are available at or if you want to pay less and don't mind putting up with an impatient salesman taking your order you can call B&H Photo at 800- 947-9954 or if you like verbal abuse call Adorama at 800-223-2500. Relax I'm just joking about the service on these two ...you'll save about $15 on the total order. I can't wait for the Fuji S1pro to come out so I won't be buying a coolpix or Olympus every 9 months, the S1 should be good for 2-3 years.

I guess they don't allow links - so to continue the sentence... "all are available at calumetphotoDOTcom" Good luck!
