Maybe I'm just really clueless but what exactly is closed captioning? And how do I get it? Thanks

Cai, Closed Captioning is a feature on television sets for the hearing impaired. It allows them to read the dialogue (pretty much) as it is said. I sometimes turn it "on" to see dialogue that was rapid or to see the words "in print." I use it with ER occasionally so I can see the medical terminology and better understand what's going on; my mind comprehends better when I see the words themselves (such as I remember the names of the so-called minor characters more once I've seen them).

Older model TV's may not have this feature. It's easy to activate on mine; I just push a button on the remote. You might want to look at your TV's instruction booklet to see if you have it and, if so, how you activate it. Hope this helps.

As far as I know, just look for the menu button on your remote and find and choose caption. Or sometimes, its usually placed with the stuff that helps you put some kind of words/names on top of the channel number on your tv screen.
