Are you into plants?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nayad : One Thread |
What's your favorite flower? Do you have a garden? What are you doing with your yard this year?
I have big aspirations to make my yard beauteous this year, planting all kinds of gorgeous perennials all over the place. Trouble is, I don't know which things I want to plant, or where. Well, I kind of know where. I haven't taken the time to think about it much yet. And I'm thinking that before I start planting, I really ought to pull up some of the weeds that are threatening to start their own nation-state out there.

Funny you should ask. Just this past weekend I planted over 200 little seed thingys and I'm waiting for the plants to sprout. I've got big plans for a garden out front full of all sorts of flowers. We've got this enormous yard with nothing but ugly bushes in it. I'm hoping to spruce it up a bit with a variety of colorful flowers.
And I love cacti too! Every time I'm in Arizona I visit this place called the Desert Museum. It's full of desert animals and plant life and it's just the most beautiful place ever. There are really flowers in the desert and there is more than one kind of cacti.
And I make gross jokes too!

Although the weather in Southern WI has been unseasonably lovely this year, Madame Jellyfish, resist the temptation to start planting for a few more weeks.Because you are an avid reader, I would suggest that you take a trip to the library to check out a book or two on Midwestern gardening. Also, a detour to the Bruce Company in Middleton (one of my FAVORITEST places in the world) is always fun for inspiration. They don't have much for outdoor planting just yet....but in a month or so, ZOWIE!!! Possible bonus: You might just bump into *me* there. Just look for the chick with the slack jaw, moving slowly among the displays, quietly moaning: "Ahhhhh Spring!!"
Now, get outside and start pulling weeds! :)
