I need a digicam for indoor photography. As a journalist my pictures are to be published in daily press. So an external flash is a must, and if possible a hot shoe. For this I favour Canon Powershot Pro 70 or Fuji MX 2900 Zoom. (They both are available at the price level I prefer.) Is the rather old Canon still worth buying? Does the Canon's optical advantages overrule the higher resolution of the Fuji Mx 2900? Pease help me decide. Or is there another digicam for these purposes you'd recommend (Same price level)?

The canon 70 has image quality significantly better than its specs indicate. It's got the advantage for wide angle and lens quality over most digicams. It's not small or light. See review here: http://photo.askey.net/reviews/canonpro70/ A friend of mine owns the fuji 2900 and is dissatisfied with the "graininess" of the pictures. He much prefers the pics from my sony 505 (I use slave flash, but do not recommend 505 for your application). It's probably the difference between the 2.1 & 2.3 megapixel CCD's. If you don't mind the bulk I'd go with the canon 70 for your application, even if it is a little dated. Maybe you can get a deal on one used. Look at epson 850 too and see if you lik
