Anyone else feel like they missed a weekgreenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread |
This is my first time writing to this forum. I had to ask though, does anyone feel as though there was a missing episode. It went from John being in agony on crutches, to him slightly limping. How did that happen so quickly? I must say I was a little disappointed. I do like Carter and wanted to see a little more on that story line. Tanya

Tanya, ER does something that many other shows don't...let time continue and things happen off camera. The attack happened in February and Carol says it's now April at the end of "Viable Options" when it snowed. So, it's been two months though we've only seen, three new episodes...one at the end of February, one in March, and one in April--so far. I didn't check the epi summaries to confirm this, but I think the diabetic kid was on "The Peace of Wild Things" which ran in November. Now it's five (actually six) months later, but pretty close. So, the show seems to continue to run on real time even when there are no new epis. Does that make sense? Maybe someone else can say it better.

I agree, Tanya, I was surprised Carter seemed as well as he did in this epi. I hope (!) we're meant to read between the lines a bit and assume something's going on that he's not showing/talking about and not that he's just going right back to being lovable old Carter. They didn't give us too much to go on though besides the permission to write scrips for other docs and the bold lie to Mark at the end of the epi. Time will tell.

just remember that when they brought in the diabetic boy they said that he'd been seen in the ER Five (5) months earlier and no one picked up on his high blood sugar level and it certainly would have been evident 5 months ago that he has type II diabetes.

I totally agree, I wish they showed a little more recovery. I know that there are other storylines to get to, but this is the storyline (the stabbing and the aftermath) that got EVERYONE watching and everyone excited, so why not show a little more about it? I know that even this storyline will get worn out, but a little more to it wouldn't be bad. However, I do believe that we will see more soon. I don't believe that an event like that will just pass by like this.

I agree with you Tanya about being disappointed. I was surprised just to see him limping. They are still continuing with the storyline in the background, so to speak. At the end of "Viable Options", Carter blatantly lied to Mark's face about mis-diagnosing the kid with diabetes. (I mentioned this in an earlier thread.) My personal opinion is that this isn't the Carter we know and love. He doesn't seem as fun-loving and happy as he used to. I've never known him to lie like that until after the stabbing. These are the reasons I think they are still continuing the storyline, but in the background. I believe it will start coming out that he is still going through hell regarding the stabbing and Lucy's death. Sorry I rambled. Just my two cents worth.

Ok folks, since what I have to say relates somewhat to this post. I would like to mention that Noah told Rosie that he will be on crutches on 2 eppys, 1 in cane, and then all hell will break loose. So far we've seen him on crutches for only 1 eppy (Under Control) and then I was hoping to see him with a cane on the last episode. What is going here???????

Thank-you! Thank-you! I thought I was the only one! I feel like the writers robbed us of some very important "healing" time. (I mean 5 MONTHS-just like that?) Not only in terms of a co-workers brutal death but what about Carter's aftermath! I hope the writers make up for this gross negligence to the fans!

I think there is some confusion here. 5 months have not passed. The Peace of Wild Things was simply a rerun from 5 months ago (notice Carol is still very palapbly pregnant???). We had Be Patient (new), then the Sins of the Fathers (old),then Under Control (new), then Peace of Wild Things (old, then Viable Options(new) and now it is another new one this week, followed by Humpty Dumpty (old), and then The Longest Year (new). Hopefully this will help clear up this 5 months confusion thing. (Who knows maybe I've only added to the confusion!)
