Do you play any sports?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nayad : One Thread |
Have you ever been on a team or played your sport competitively? Do you play some sports simply for fun and others for competition? What are your goals in your sport/s?
I was on the badminton team for my last two years in high school. I improved a lot in that time, but I was never a great player. That's probably because, until I discovered badminton, I hardly enjoyed any sports. I've loved to swim since the age of six, but I've never done it competitively. I'm good enough at it that the gym teacher had me demonstrate how to do different swimming strokes in high school, though. I want to play tennis - during the short time our gym class spent on tennis, I developed a pretty good serve!

I play tennis and golf now but I used to play softball and basketball in high school. I'm functional in almost any sport, like volleyball or badminton, because I'm just athletic in nature. I've only played roller hockey once or twice, but I thought it was great fun.Does roller blading or mountain biking count as as sport? Probably not, probably more like an outdoor activity.
I'm just happy to impress men with my golfing ability. And I love it too.

i was rather slow to develop when it came to coordination. i wasn't really comfortable with playing sports until i got into high school, so i was slightly behind most of my peers. having a father who was a sports hero when he was younger didn't help much. i was ushered into little league baseball at an early age and despised it. but after he kind of gave up on me being his home run hero i found things i was more than happy to do for my own sake. i played tennis and basketball in high school. i'm fairly good at both. i started playing soccer as time went on. my little brother, on the other hand, is quite the athlete. at age 12 i saw him hit a home run that broke the scoreboard at the field back home. he now plays football as well. i think there are healthy elements to sports, if done in moderation or with care. and some are simply fun. oh yeah, i play golf too every once in a while ;)
