I was watching an EB train roll by on the NS at Salem, Va. on 14Apr00 at 09:30. Towards the end of the train was an Ortner hopper car, the type in sand and gravel service for Southern, in a bright blue and yellow paint job. The car was blue, with a large yellow field in the center of the car, in the shape of a V. The only thing I could read as it rolled by was Rapid Discharge. I thought I saw SOU reporting marks on it, but I could'nt read the number. Unfortunately, the trains speed and the rain eliminated the possibility of a photo. Anyone have a number for this car, and know what it is that I saw? Thanks!
