Our last farm in WI we called Dandelion farm. The first time we saw it the fields were solid yellow with Dandelions, heck we knew if we couldn't grow anything else we could grow Dandelions. Our sheep love them, we eat the young ones in salads and Dandelion jelly and wine is great. They bring nutrients up from great depths. We have always enjoyed them!!! Kim

Over the winter I ordered "The Dandelion Celebration" (excellent book!) from the Countryside bookstore and read it cover to cover. Some of the recipes sounded so yummy I couldn't wait for Spring to get here so I try them out! Just last week we had our first salad, mmmm! Am also planning to make dandelion jelly. I never knew what a treasure we had right in our own yard, free of charge. Can't beat the nutrition either. Hurray for dandelions!!

Walking home from my sons pre school the other day we found a empty lot filled with blooming dandelions and you would have thought my 5 year old had died and gone to heaven,He ran around making wishs on all grown seed heads he could find[ to make a wish on a dandelion get a ripe seed head make a wish and blow the seeds off, If you can do it in one breath you will get your wish someday]and picking me a wonderful boquet, goes to show never let some one determine whats a weed , one mans weed is anothers treasure.

Dandelions have always been one of my favorite flowers -- I could never figure out why people were so desperate to keep them out of their lawns!! We eat the greens, and I've frozen them so we could have them through the winter. And they are really good for the animals, who usually love them (how many dandelions do you see in a grazed pasture? They get eaten!!).

Exactly, and they are a wonderful source of early pollen for bees. I am featuring dandelions on my website this month, so if anyone has more good sources of information, I would love to hear about them.

I will be getting married in August and we would like to disperse dandelion seeds instead of the usual bridal favor "bubbles" as a symbol of how far our love will go. It's a crazy idea, I know...but I need some dandelion seeds. If interested in gathering dandelion seeds please collect them and e-mail me for mailing information. What do you think of this idea? Is there any environmental factors that I should consider?...Thank you, Fanny
