Vilnius, 9th May: The Lithuanian oil refinery Mazeikiu Nafta [Mazeikiai Oil] is resuming operations after idleness of more than a week due to lack of crude oil, the plant's spokeswoman said on Tuesday [9th May].

The plant's refining facilities, shut down on 30th April, were restarted on Monday [8th May], Virginija Kristinaitiene told BNS. The refinery has over 65,000 tonnes of crude oil now, an amount sufficient for a week of operation, with new oil deliveries to Mazeikiai expected on Friday [12th May], she said. Currently, oil is being pumped through the Birzai-based pipeline to the Butinge export- import terminal which has stood idle for about a week.

The Mastera, a 134,000-tonne tanker sailing under the Norwegian flag, is to be filled with crude oil delivered for export by Russia's Yukos company by the end of this week.
