Oh my gosh!! I did not think that this episode would have such an effect on me! When I found out Carol was leaving, I knew I would cry when she left, but to see her and Doug at the end together made me cry tears of happiness. I couldn't stop crying for half an hour.

I love coming to this board and reading the posts because no one else understands what I feel for this show. It has become such a big part of my life and what happens to these characters affects me so much! My family saw me crying and were wondering why, and I just said "you don't understand." I felt like I lost a friend today, but at least I have previous episodes to look back on.

Seeing Doug there and watching them together was the best present ever! When I was watching him and when he laughed, I was smiling and crying at the same time! It was WONDERFUL!

Also, the title of this episode fit perfectly! It was sorrow because Carol was leaving but it was soooo sweet!

A great ending to a great couple! And BTW - I love the house! Looks like the twins will grow up having a great life!

Cassie...I know how you feel, I love coming here and being able to vent about everything. And about losing a friend, I feel pathetic, but I know the feeling! I found out this morning that Clooney would be appearing (amazing they kept it secret this long...I have got to commend them for that, it was a good way to do it) and I felt like "yea, he's coming back for us! He really does love us!" Of course I was meaning the ER cast, doing what Julianna Margulies wanted. I'm sure he did it primarily for her, and I was just thinking about it all day (despite the fact that I was a bit disappointed I couldn't be surprised) All day I was wondering hwo they'd do it and what it wouldbe like to see Doug's face back on the show and it just felt great to know he was coming back for them and us, who wanted it. I don't know how to explain, I just wanted to scream THANKS GEORGE!

All I can say is -- WOW!! When TPTB want to please the fans, they surely know how to do it!! Seeing Doug & Carol together again reminds me of how wonderful they are as a couple, and their daughters will definately have a terrific life!!

This episode title was perfect, "Such Sweet Sorrow." I felt the moment that this really hit home was when Carol was tearfully explaining to Luka why she can't have dinner with him. She reminded me of an adorable, giddy girl who finally realized what and who she wanted, and what she'd have to do to get it. Ah, everything was just PERFECT!! From Doug's hands in his pockets, to the smile on Carol's face...thank you to George Clooney, Julianna Margulies, John Wells, and everybody else who is damn good at keeping a wonderful secret!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

What I can't believe is that there are people who watch this show, oh sometimes, or a bit here and there, and *don't* get excited about it. I think about it all day Wednesday and Thursday, no talking or moving allowed while it's on, if the telephone rings I yell. It's strange to have one's so emotions tied up in a tv show, (I knew I would cry about Carol, but when she got to the house I positively blubbed!) but I think that the reason we do is because it is so Good and we can trust them to do a good job. I have a whole new respect for TPTB for keeping that secret. It had better win the Emmy.

May, I totally agree! If ER doesn't win an Emmy and Noah Wyle doesn't win one, I will shoot the TV screen. No other show compares to this and no other one can ever comapre to it! ER is the best show on television, and they sure proved it tonight!

I've always loved the wonderful titles that the ER writers come up with, and "Such Sweet Sorrow" is one of the most appropriate -- not just for its emotional power but for its allusion to Shakespeare. "Parting is such sweet sorrow" comes from Romeo & Juliet, of course, so I almost felt like the title was a lovely way for the show's writers, cast & crew to say goodbye to Julianna Marguiles.

(One of my other favorite episode titles is "Love's Labor Lost," from Season 1 -- also a nod to Shakespeare. I'm an English teacher, so I'm a sucker for this stuff!)

ER has been a HUGE part of my life. It not only makes me cry, laugh, and brings out all other emotions it helped me decide what I want to do in life. Right now I am pre-med at University of Kansas. This show gave me a glimpse of what the real life hospital setting is really like. I'm not trying to make my life just dramatic, but also helped me to want to help people. Also does anyone know where I can get a copy of the original ER movie that premiered on NBC nearly SEVEN (WOW!!!!) years ago? I would greatly appreciate an e-mail!
