Title: Equilon says Ill. benzene unit down for repair
NEW YORK, May 15 (Reuters) - Equilon Enterprises said Monday its benzene extraction unit at its 295,000 barrels per day (bpd) Wood River, Ill. refinery was brought down Sunday evening for a week's repair.
The benzene extraction unit has a capacity of 25,000 bpd.
The unplanned unit outage will also decrease the refinery's 85,000 bpd gasoline production capacity, but only ``minimally,'' a refinery spokeswoman said.
``We brought it down last night and the repairs should take about a week,'' the spokeswoman said.
Equilon Enterprises LLC is a joint venture between Shell (56 percent) and Texaco (NYSE:TX - news) (44 percent), and operates six refineries.
