Does anyone have any dog biscuit recipes available? I want to make my friend some for her new dog she'll be getting soon. If you have any recipes or sites you know of that might offer some please post an answer. Thanks! - Jean

Jean, I haven't made any of the recipes from these two sites, but I have made dog biscuits. I cut them with whatever cookie cutter I can find until I get sick of rerolling the dough. Then I just cut the dough into strips or squares. Faster, can get more on a cookies sheet at a time, and also more on the cooling racks. If you don't find anything that looks good on these sites, search Soarfrugal living sites and do a general search-there are a lot of recipes out there.

Jean: We make bisquits for our dogs, as do our son and his wife, and they love them! My brother in law came over one day to help with hay, and walked in just after I took a batch out of the oven. He even took one...can't imagine why, as they were cut into dog bone shapes! They smell good, and are easy. I will post the recipe as soon as I locate it later today. They are supposed to cost about 25cents per pound, unlike commercial ones, which are about 2.00 and up per box. Jan

This is Carla Emery's recipe, I've never tried it. Mis together 3 1/2 c unbleached flour, 2c. whole wheat flour, 1 c. cornmeal and 1/2 c skim milk powder. On the side, dissolve 1T. or 1 pkg. yeast in 3 1/2c. lukewarm chicken or meat broth. The richer this broth is, the better your dog will like the biscuits. Let yeast broth mixture set 10 min. Then stir in flour mixture. Roll resulting dough out 1/4" thick. Cut dog biscuit shapes from dough. Brush biscuits with egg wash. Boke on greased cookie sheets at 300* for 45 min. Then turn off oven and leave in overnight to finish hardening. Makes 60 med-sized biscuits.

I used this recipe once and my dog loved the 'bones', but know my grandfather keeps her going with his treats, (the cats too). 2 cups----All-purpose flour, (could use whole wheat, I suppose) 1 cup-----Cornmeal 1/4cup----Wheat Germ 2 tsp.----Beef bouillon powder 1/2 tsp.--garlic powder Mix these ingredients in a medium bowl.

Add: 1-------large egg 1 tbsp.-Cooking oil 1 cup---Hot water

Stir well. Roll out on a well-floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Place on ungreased cooking sheet. Bake on center rack, (275 F. or 140 C) for about 2 hours until dry and very hard. Let stand overnight to dry thoroughly. Makes 10 big bones and 14 puppy bones.

I don't have a biscuit recipe, but I have a funny story for you. My sister lives in Kansas City, and there's a gourmet shop that makes fancy dog biscuits that look like real cookies. Not just regular cookies, but iced with bows and roses and all that. She got some for my dogs and I brought them home in a paper bag and put them in the cabinet. My ex-husband woke up late and decided they looked good. He said they tasted terrible, and I said the dogs liked them, they should know since they're dog biscuits. You should've seen him spit the rest out! This happened about 10 years ago, and I still laugh about it...... Carol

I used to have a recipe that mainly consisted of raw liver, egg and flour, then cooked. I used it once and the dog adored them. I hated them because I had to put the liver through a blender. I threw the recipe away, but wish now I had kept it. Does anyone have anything similar?

My daughter just came home from her 4H dog obediance class with a reciepe for dog biscuts.they had samples there and all the dogs loved them. They use treats to teach the agility and obedience. I liked the fact that it will use up all those packages of liver that no one but me will eat out of the freezer! DOG TREATS: 1# raw liver (any kind) blended into a paste 1 egg 1 cup flour 1/2 cup corn meal ( or flour) 1/4 teas. oregano 1/4 tas. garlic powder Mix well and bake at 350 for 1/2 hour for chewy treats, longer for crisper treats.
