I just saw Family Matters for the first time and I noticed that Dave seemed to know about Carter's thing for med students (which Chuney will clarify!)...Dave assumed that Carter and Deb were a thing and then Carter said something like 'believe it or not, I don't go through every med student'...I don't remember exactly how the conversation went, but I thought it insinuated Dave's knowledge of Carter's "love life in the workplace". I was wondering if this was a hint of reminiscence of last year, with Carter and Lucy and exam 6. Could Dave know about that? I know there is no way of knowing, but I thought it would be pretty funny if he did, since both Dave and Chuney have a big mouth and it could have been mentioned.

And, just to refer back to other threads, 1) Dave IS slightly a replacement Doug, the hospital troublemaker, rebel, and gossip. 2) I loved the scene of Carter and Deb leaving and Dave offering to go get something to eat...though I wish they'd said yes, but I thought maybe Carter was saying no to get Dave in with some alone time w/ Deb.

Yeah, I could totally imagine Chuny telling Dave EVERYTHING! After all, word got around pretty quick after Lucy and Carter's little escapade in the exam room!

I don't think Dave is exactly like Doug, because Doug was a womanizer during the first few seasons, all Mr. Charm, but poor Dr. Dave can't seem to get a date to save his life! Dave also has more of an outgoing, joking kind of personality. I don't think Dave and Deb would be good together - she obviously does not like him anyway. I still think Dave and Randi would be a neat match.

I believe the conversation referred to the first season when Deb and Carter were BOTH med students. I don't think Dave meant the question to pertain to the present. There are no rules against med students dating each other, just a doctor and a med student.

Since Carter and Lucy only had the one "slip" in season 5, probably not enough fuel was added to the hospital grapevine for the gossip about them to last too long.
