Cayman Camera in the British West Indies has great pricesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread |
Just incase you haven't heard yet. Cayman Camera has some of the best prices around for P67 gear. You can email them at [caycamer@candw.ky] for equipment quotes. I buy stuff from them all the time. Here is a sample of some prices, which are anywhere from 15% to 30% less than B&H's prices. The only problem is that the equipmenst must be shipped Next Day Fed Ex to the USA (due to insurance reasons) and shipping can be quite expensive ($50 to $100 bucks). I'm going to place an order soon, if anyone wants to order together, we can split the shipping expenses. I agree, their prices are great. Two weeks ago I bought a 55-100 zoom from them for $1239 + $70 S&H (ouch!), for a total of $1309, delivered. B&H's price was $1670, shipping not included, and Smile's advertised price was $1349, which they refused to honor. The savings compared to B&H was almost $400, considering shipping charges.I figured for this price it would be a gray market item, but it has a warranty card redeemable to the Englewood, Co address. I guess this makes it an officially USA warrantied piece. I'll be buying from them in the future, but don't need anything right now. Bob

By the way, I saw a used 55-100 zoom at a camera show just before I ordered the new one. Silvio's (Southern Ca) had it and it was in good condition, but they wanted $1400 for it and wouldn't budge on the price. I got the new one fron Cayman for $91 less than their used one. Bob

I would love to buy from Cayman and save a little money. But, after five days they still have not returned my e mail. Doesn't sound like it's a very reliable place to deal with or was one lens too small of a purchase?

I double checked to make sure the email address in Rollands letter is correct, and it is. I don't understand why they haven't answered you. They do have holidays that are different from ours, but 5 days is a long time. I ordered just one lens too, and all my emails were answered by the next day.All I can suggest is to make sure you typed in the right email address. If that isn't the problem, you can try (phone) (345)949- 8359, or (fax)(345)949-7479. They have a small ad in Shutterbug every month. You can use the adertiser's index, near the back, to find them. Good luck. Bob

I just sent an email to Cayman Cameras regarding pricing for the Pentax 67 II with AE finder. Let's see what they come back with.I will compare it with B&H (who I have been doing business with for years) and Robert White in Great Britain.
