Summa Reports Supplier Plant Disruption

TORRANCE, Calif., Jun 7, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Summa Industries (Nasdaq: SUMX) has been advised by Bayer Corporation, a major supplier of polycarbonate resin, that production has been interrupted at its Baytown, Texas manufacturing facility, due to a fire. Bayer will be unable to meet its supply obligations in full for an indefinite period.

Although there are two other major North American manufacturers of polycarbonate, and no disruptions in Summa's business are anticipated for the next 30 days, a prolonged outage of the Bayer facility could impact the availability and price of polycarbonate resin. Summa sales of products manufactured from polycarbonate are approximately $20 million per year.
