I met my competition...greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread |
I thought I'd let everyone know before hand that I lost one of my world record titles this weekend at the Funspot tournament on the game Arkanoid. We spoke many hours on the phone prior to the tournament about our strategies and they seemed quit similiar. The players name is Zack Hample of NY a 22 year old colleage student who not only beat my world record score by 192k (1,658,000) but also took home the bounty of $1000 for beating the world record score which was also his in which he got 2 months ago (1,582,000) Twin Galaxies and Rickys World Famous Hot Sauce (Billy Mitchell's company) put up $1000 bountys on 24 different games which would be awarded to any player who can beat the current world record listed in the book on that particular game, Arkanoid being one of them. Galaga was the other and the record to beat was mine (15,999,990) so in other words, I was going up against myself! I had several attempts at trying to win the bounty for beating my own record and I couldn't pull it off. After several attempts, it got too late in the day to start another game so I had to wait till the next morning and try again. My highest score over the weekend was just shy of 12M. I will now have to find some time to do it again at a local arcade that stays open 24hrs. This one will have to be recorded.Regards, Steve Krogman
