I acquired a few days ago a coolpix 950 from nikon. As the 990 is now out I could get it for a nice price. I noticed however that some pictures where not ok when using the automatic program. I read, and was told, that when using the automatic program setting (A) pictures are almost always ok. However when using this program quite a lot of pictures are to bright as if one "stop" was added. I also noticed that e.g. grey roofs look more blue than grey. Does anybody have any idea if my camera is not functioning well or is this normal.

I think this must be a problem with your 950. Prior to selling my 950 and getting a 990, I took over 1,000 images with it. I did not have the problem you describe on any of those images. The only thing I had was a slight bias towards yellow on all images and I programmed Photoshop to eliminate that bias. So, I would put my money on the fact that your 950 may have a problem. But before you take it back to the store, try taking images in the "manual" mode and take two images, one with matrix metering, the other (of the same scene) with spot metering.

Thanks for the feedback. I went to the shop this afternoon and made some pictures in different modes and different lightning conditions together with a "consultant" and compared them with another 950. The conclusion is that I have not a defect camera and have to learn to use it.
