hey guys. i'm just wondering what's going on for the presentation, ie. what topics people have chosen to present on so that i can choose one that fills in the gaps...is anyone interested in meeting up at school on monday afternoon to go over what we want to do?

Answers

I think it broke down something like this:

• Jason was going to do the introduction and talk a little bit about Neuromancer and its thematic elements;
• I was going to talk about the overreaching themes of cyberpunk of a genre and about what I think the major question in most cyberpunk stories is (identity confusion; see the primer I wrote for the site;
• Steve I always get confused about -- I think he was going to talk about the corporatization of society in cyberpunk worlds and hopefully with reference to He, She + It;
• guys?

So the bottom line is I'm not quite sure. I know what Jason and I are doing, but someone's got to tie Gibson to Piercy (although I can sort of hack my way through part of that, I suppose). I'm pretty sure that's the breakdown, but I'd welcome corrections.

As for meeting: I think the plan was to meet at 1600 on Monday to do the final bit of work on this. I don't know where we were planning on meeting (I recommend the SUB multipurpose room, if only because it's close to a vendor of food and drink), but I suppose we can talk about that here.

ummm...i haven't read neuromancer so i don't feel comfortable comparing it to he, she and it...i don't really have time to read it over the weekend...so i'm gonna think up what i want to do, but other than comparing neuromancer to he she and it i don't really know angle is needed...i would like to do something about the dystopic elements in cyberpunk and what cyberpunkers see as a solution to that and how that links to he she and it...mike is this too close to what you are doing? fantastic job on this web site by the way, it is really useful and it's obvious that you've put alot of work into it, good job.

That's cool. It's not too close to what I've been doing (mostly because I'm doing general stuff and you're looking at specifics), so it's okay with me. I'm going to expand on the whole history thing tonight; check back tomorrow for the new details. (Hopefully.)
