Can't Wait Until It Opens!greenspun.com : LUSENET : Hedgehog Talk : One Thread |
I'm dying to see A Perfect Storm (I'm gagging for it, as they said in MI2) and The Patriot, and now Jesus' Son. What can't you wait to see this summer>

Y'all are gonna hit me...but I want to see X-Men, okay? I was a big comic book fan back in the Dark Ages, and I can't help but want to see how they shred my childhood into teeny, tiny pieces. And Hamlet. Still haven't managed to catch it, but it should be phenomenal.

The only movies I tend to await anxiously these days are kiddie movies, because there really is nothing like that vicarious excitement you get sitting next to a kid who is just completely enthralled and bowled over and played emotionally like a bass fiddle by a movie, no matter how awful the movie is. Like last year's Pokimon movie-- it was dreadful (and this from a woman who unabashedly loves the TV show). But I took Whit and Will and 3 friends to see it, and that part where all the Pokemons' tears resurrect the lifeless body of Ash... well, my heart swelled too, right along with theirs, as I looked down the row and saw four 7-year-olds with tears streaming down their faces. This summer we're all hyped up for Titan AE and Chicken Run.

I'm dead excited about The Patriot... I'm kind of a history freak.

I really want to see Chicken Run, and also- Loves Labours Lost- heard a review for it, that completely shot it down, but it looks interesting- A Shakespearean Musical- but it has (gag) Alicia Silverstone.

Chicken Run is the only movie I'm looking forward to seeing. I even kind of wish it had opened already, because as much as I'd enjoy going out to a movie, there isn't anything else in the theaters I feel like sitting through.Kymm, I've been meaning to ask you about A Perfect Storm. Like, what is it about? I remember you mentioned in your Rate-A- Trailer about it that you'd read the book; there's a book? And as far as the trailer goes, I can't tell that there's a damn bit of story to the movie. "Guys on boat sail into storm, up face of giant wave." SO WHAT??? Could I care less that one guy is George Clooney? Not if I tried with a stick.
Why should I care about anyone in the film and/or what happens to them?

Read the book and find out! Do you like true stories, like that Everest book that made me weep and weep and whose name I can't remember at this time. Into Thin Air, that's it. Perfect Storm is like that, it's an incredibly tragic true story about all these elements that came together to create this inevitable result.Really, it's a great book.

If I watch that Chicken Run movie, I'll never eat another foul. Three years as a vegetarian in my early 20's was way long enough.

No, you just wouldn't be able to eat any clay chickens, the regular kind aren't so witty and clever and all, especially not when all chopped up into McNuggets.

I am yet another soul that wants to see " Chicken Run"...the previews look so funny.
-- Bill W (wessonw@mindspring.com), June 13, 2000.
Perfect Storm is based on a true story. I definitely want to see it now!!!
-- Melissa (mesawyou@yahoo.com), June 14, 2000.
X-men. Mists of Avalon. The Dragonriders of Pern. Those last two might not show up until next year, but I want to see them now, dammit!Oh, and Lord of the Rings.

Chicken Run! Woo hoo! I may even go to the "Family Sneak Preview" I'm so excited. I love Aardman Animations, I have Wallace and Gromit wallpaper on my pc at work. I think they're just the wittiest, funniest thing since sliced bread (which, by the way, is not all that funny. Where did THAT expression come from, Anyone know?)Also the new Hamlet.

I'm with you on Chicken Run. LOVE Wallace and Gromit. When my computer starts, it's to a .WAV file of "Windows are our speci-a-lity."

Chicken Run (I adore Wallace and Gromit, so this should be fun) and X-Men (I *heart* Patrick Stewart). Sorry, Kymm, but A Perfect Storm doesn't look appealing to me at all.Loves Labour Lost looks mighty interesting. I think Kenneth Branagh is pretty damned cute and it just looks like a fun movie.
