What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?greenspun.com : LUSENET : jolene : One Thread |
Maybe something that your baby did? Or something YOU did for your child or yourself or your partner that made you really think: "Okay, I can DO this!"
Don't worry if you're not there yet... I'm sure you'll get there!

Mine: the journal. tried similar things in the past, this is the first one that is a keeper. I really hope the kids see it as the gift it is intended to one day be.Spouse: she is so much more of a complete and confident woman since becoming a mom. she rocks. :)
Ariel Princess: she did it! her first ballet recital! she was painfully shy just one year ago...now she is able to perform on stage with little fear...she has lots of little friend..and she's so excited to start kindergarten.
Da Boy: He pooped on the bigboy potty today, for the first time! His vocabulary is also just taking off! Too fun.

Mine was finding a good job in New England and moving my wife and new baby away from Detroit and to a place where we can be safe and have a quality environment in which to grow up. (Well, the baby can grow up. I have no plans to do so myself...)

I haven't really been feeling anything in particular lately, but I do remember a couple of weeks ago... maybe when Jessica was about two months... maybe she was only a month and a half... I don't know... But I remember standing in the kitchen at the old apartment.
Jessica was down for a nap.
I was making formula.
Laundry was washing and drying.
The dishwasher was running.
And as I was sitting there mixing up bottles of food for my babe, I was thinking: "I'm really doing it! I'm like a mom! The house isn't falling apart, in fact, it's actually pretty clean, considering. The baby is asleep, I can unload those dishes in a little while... I'm like... SUPER-Mom!"
I was so proud of myself.
I guess that is my accomplishment, still. Our house is still pretty much in order (after I play online a little bit more, I'm gonna go empty some more boxes) and that's what matters to me the most. I can't stand living in a dirty house with clutter all over. Our house isn't perfect, mind you, because of The Move, but laundry is done, dishes are done, formula is made, things are coming together. It's awesome. (=

I know what you mean, Jolene.Right now, my baby is only 4 weeks old... but my biggest accomplishment so far has been getting through a whole day of happy baby!!!!! I mean, she will cry a bit, but it's because I can't make the bottle fast enough. Now, if I could just figure out how to get the food in her belly before she cries, I'll truly be her supermom.
Oh, and I was able to leave her with her aunt Linda for 3 hours the other night without freaking out!!! go me!
(Chicken Run was a good distraction.... cackle cackle)

Oh, my god. You truly are supermom! You know that I still haven't left Jessica for anything longer than an hour. (And that was just once. I ran an errand in the morning while Jake stayed with her.)
And with "going back to work" looming in the distance, I don't think I'll be leaving her any time soon, either. In fact, just the opposite. I've been exceptionally clingy with her lately. I'll check my email periodically throughout the day, but tonight is the first night in a LONG time that I've actually sat down to read journals and forums and actually (*gasp*) write an entry in a long time.
I'll nap with her and let her nap on me, just so I don't have to be away from her. Going back to work is going to kill me, I know.
It's only for six hours a day.
It's only for six hours a day.
It's only for six hours a day.
Six hours too long. *Sigh*

Emma's biggest accomplishment thus far, besides making it home, was smiling for real for the first time yesterday - 3 times in a row!Mine was figuring out by myself after several days of fussiness that no, she wasn't being just fussy, no she didn't have gas, no it wasn't the fact that she hadn't pooped in half a week and was constipated...it was that we weren't giving her enough food! We were starving her - the poor thing.

I got the kitchen floor mopped and swept the other night and felt like that was amazing. The next day I got the whole house vacuumed. Last night, I made dinner.7 weeks after the baby, these seem like earth-shattering accomplishments to me.
Genevieve's accomplishments:
Smiling Laughing Flirting Drinking from a bottle (doesn't like it, but CAN do it now!) Can turn over onto her tummy Is starting to hold her head up pretty well (wobbly, but she's trying) Russell's accomplishments (he's the 6 year old):
Can swim in water over his head without drowning (Go Bear!) Ate some of his salad with a fork (not his fingers) and actually ate more than one salad veggie at a time once or twice. Mike the Hubby's accomplishment yesterday:
Managed to telecommute for 6 hours from home with Genevieve and Russell in attendance.
