The "burnt over distric" was a region in New York during the Second Great Awakening that was filled with MANY revivals! I took APUSH last year, and here's a few things I remember: It was primarliy led by a Presbyterian minister, (In 1823)Charles Finney--a radical. He appealed more to people's fears and emotions--like Jonathan Edwards. (You know the whole fear of eternal damnation thing) It mostly affected the middle class. His sermons were called "hell-and- brimstone." This was also part of the huge reform movement in America. I hope this helps!! :) Good Luck!!
