Hi, hullo, I hope you can help me. I'm in the middle of writing a paper on the "burnt over" district in upstate New York and I've fallen a bit short on information. I'm hoping someone knows a few facts about it, so that I can make my paper the best it can be! Thank you for taking the time to read!

The "burnt over distric" was a region in New York during the Second Great Awakening that was filled with MANY revivals! I took APUSH last year, and here's a few things I remember: It was primarliy led by a Presbyterian minister, (In 1823)Charles Finney--a radical. He appealed more to people's fears and emotions--like Jonathan Edwards. (You know the whole fear of eternal damnation thing) It mostly affected the middle class. His sermons were called "hell-and- brimstone." This was also part of the huge reform movement in America. I hope this helps!! :) Good Luck!!I Wish You Heaven, Sadora
