I have recently been watching the British reruns on C4 and a few times we have seen Carter and Harper together. It's been 4 years since I saw season 2 and was wondering why Harper and Carter split in the end. I think that Carter forgave her for sleeping w/ Doug, so I don't think that's it. Anyone remember?

Harper dumped Carter for "excessive sucking up to the surgeons"... I don't know if this is an actual quote but it was in a book.

I think she transferred to some other hospital after a while. Maybe she did become a fighter pilot and astronaut like they were talking about in the cafeteria!

Harper dumped Carter because he had been turning into a real slimeball--forgetting to care about the patients in his eagerness to add notches to his belt with new procedures. The last straw was when he cleverly maneuvered Harper and Dale Edson down to the cafeteria so that he could get an incoming trauma that Dale was supposed to get. Throughout the series, Carter has had these little lapses where he's allowed his ambition to overcome his decency.

Carter and Harper actually got together even more a few episodes after she slept with Doug. A few episodes after Carter and Harper broke up, Carter found out that she was going to Texas for a rotation, I think. They seemed to have left it on good terms; according to the summary, he tells her he's going to miss her, but they seemed to have cut this out of the reruns!

Anyways, after seeing it again awhile ago, I kind of liked their relationship. When it was going well, it was one of his more "meaningful" ones I think. Besides Anna, or Lucy, both of whom he was never actually with.
