That's a hard one. I of course have a soft spot for Kawi, being that is what I own.

But....... There's NOTHING like the sound of a Ducati.. Nothing. I love when I'm behind one on the road, and I can just follow, and listen........

R7, comfortable? Oookay. ;) I really like the Bimota SB8S, but my VTR1000 cost me about 10% of what the Bimota would... so, per $$, the Honda wins hands down. Ben Bostrom rocks so hard, though, that his Duc has got to be my Fav Superbike (for the purists).

Ducati 996, Aprilla RSV 50, Kawasaki ZX-7R. I like the Ducati for its mechanical and emotional apeal but I feel like the ZX-7R would scream just as nice (996=112HP/161Mph top speed 198kg vs. ZX-7R=106HP*/163Mph top speed 203kg). The little Aprilla I like because I'm not a racerboy but a small 50cc bike would be cool to race around in. I would love to have a pair of them so that my fiance and I could rip around together on them.

*The Kawasaki had actual tested horsepower rather than the Ducati's static horsepower spec, in reality they might be exactly the same

I had this really cool Evil Kneivel (sp?) royal blue chopper when I was about eight years old. You'd put it on a little ramp, crank the thing up, and it would go flying across the room to crash quite spectaularly into the nearest wall, do a double back flip, and be ready for round two. Then my best friend broke it in half during a temper tantrum and that was the end of that.

My roommate just bought a brand new Harley Davidson (model, I have no idea) which sits in the parking spot next to my car. It's quite beautiful to look at and listen to. The first time he took it out, he missed a gear and toppled onto the curb of Pacific Coast Highway right outside our front gate. That in itself made me squirm.

All of the bikes mentioned are great machines and not only incredibly functional but works of art. I urge every one of you that owns a sportbike to take it for at least a day to your local racetrack for a spin. There is nothing more humbling than thinking you are the next Ben Bostrom on your rocket bike and getting passed by someone on an EX500 like you're standing still.... Great riders make mediocre bikes great.
