Getting another catgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread |
I've been considering adopting another kitten from my local humane society. I have a mc type, named Jack, that is just over 1 yr old. He seems perfectly happy and content. He is well behaved and doesn't make a mess or destroy anything. He likes to play when I return home from work and in the mornings when I wake up, overall he is an excellent companion. I feel bad each morning when I leave for work about leaving him home all day by himself. If he has no behavioral problems and seems content, should I leave well enough alone or should I adopt another kitten to keep him company? Let me know of any potential problems with bringing in a new kitten or other considerations I should think of. Thanks in advance.

We have Minnie, a Maine Coon. I thought she would have welcomed another cat into the house (she's great with the exisiting cat that was already there before her), but this sweet lovable cat turned into a hissing, growling monster? I think all cats can become friends, but it will take some time and patience. Our general rule of thumb: every cat needs it's own litter box, so two cats = 2 litter boxes. Good luck!

Getting another cat for me was the best answer to my lazy coon cat, my coon cat Jose is one now, lazy from the beginning. Ever since I brought Julio my short haired tabby into the picture its been great they play like kids. I belive it is a really good idea, for play and for them to have a companion also.
