I am in Pensacola Florida I work at a hospital here & I am looking to get 10 or more People together to get trained to be Doulas. The Hospital that I work at wonts to get this program off & running but I need to have people trained to work with me to get this service off . I am a pharmacy owner in Pace, Florida (Sullivan Family Pharmacy). I am PLANNING my third pregnancy and have been in search of a doula/massage therapist since my massage therapist (Kristin Taylor) moved out of the state. I just completed the Certified Lactation Counselor course at the Navy Hospital and hope to receive my certification in the coming weeks.(It takes 4 to 6 weeks to have the test graded). My goal is to become nationally certified (IBCLC). Please let me know what hospital is sponsoring the class. I don't believe I would be a good candidate for a doula, but I would like to work with a team of professionals that are promoting "baby friendly" hospitals by promoting breastfeeding immediately after birth. Because I am not a nurse, I am exploring possibilites to pursue my deep desire to help moms successfully breastfeed their babies. Also, I would like to find a doula for myself, as well as a hospital that supports natural birth. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you, LeAnn

i will be moving back to the area, gulf breeze, from berkeley soon. i have just returned from a birthworks conference in new jersey. i was with carolyne anthony, the founder of www.thecenterforwomensfitness.com. she developed a program with silvia klein olken to physically prepare women for childbirth. everything is done with a stability "birthing" ball. she's incorporated elements of the alexander technique and yoga. the program is holistic in nature and is safe during all stages of pregnancy. she is currently working with pauline perez to produce a birthing positions video that hospital staff will be able to use as tool to become more comfortable in guiding laboring women who might want to use the ball. i am a certified teacher now. i also organize teacher certifications. i would like to get in touch with doulas, lactation consultants, and any other baby friendly people in the area.
