Kuwait, July 28 (Bloomberg) -- A fire today at Kuwait's 247,000-barrel-a-day Mina Abdullah refinery was quickly extinguished, without injury, Kuwait National Petroleum Co. said, Agence France-Presse reported. The fire in the refinery's hydrocracker unit was put out ``with only light damage,'' company spokesman Rajeh Saad Omair was quoted as saying by Kuwait's official news agency KUNA. The fire came a month after an explosion killed six workers at Kuwait's largest refinery, Mina Al- Ahmadi, which still hasn't returned to full production, AFP said.
Mina Al-Ahmadi normally processes 443,000 barrels of oil a day, and its shutdown has exacerbated a fuel shortage in Indonesia, forcing the country to seek fuel from neighboring Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
