More likely that the camera is recording the sound made by the lens system while focusing during the recording... If you have an infinity mode for focus try that when recording and see if the sound is reduced or disappears.

Good Luck!

Marc, when the Sony S70 is turned on, its lens keeps hunting for focus and makes a faint chirping sound, this stops as soon as it has zeroed in on a subject. The noise stops almost immediately after the shutter release is depressed to the first detent and the focusing distance is set. The duration of the noise can be minimized by using the zone focusing feature (FOCUS button), although the camera still seeks focus within the set ranges. I found the noise disconcerting at first as well.

I had this problem after 2 weeks using S70 and went to the local Sony office. They told me that this was a defect and now I'm waiting when my camera is back from repair.
