Vancouver's Stanley Park must boil tainted drinking water
VANCOUVER (CP) -- Health officials have a warning about one of Vancouver's most famous tourist attractions -- don't drink the water.
Drinking water at Stanley Park is contaminated with fecal coliform, prompting Vancouver's medical health officer to issue a boil-water warning for the downtown park.
The alert was been issued for all restaurants and concession stands in the park, and drinking fountains and spray parks were shut down Wednesday.
The alert will remain in effect until next Monday, at least.
The source of the contamination was under investigation, but it may be related to construction in the park.
Water supplies in neighbourhoods adjacent to the park are not affected.
