Silking Corn and Fly contorol

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

this may be late for some, we had about six busels of sweet corn to husk and silk, wife always does the silking with a brush. she told me in a joking way that the air compressor may do the job faster, got to thinking about it and tryed it does a great job and a lot faster, we used the small rubber end that is used for blowing up air mats worked real well just rember to wash it good some one on another post said you could get germs from air in compressor we also have been using the plastic bags for fly contorol and they work great even used it when we done corn and you all know how flies are attracted to corn when you try to work it up. we just hung them up with small tacks on back porch hope I;m not to late to help some one.

debi, its not a catcher, its water in a plastic sandwich, freezer bag. when we tryed this we didnt know if it would work, we had heard about it and having good results on it .someone told us the flies think its a wasp nest and wont cime near it . dave
