well, we got our first baby goat yesterday. we have two does, and one was obviously pregnant, but the other didn't show except her bag was getting a little big. the latter, jessica, had a beautiful baby girl. she waited till i got home from work, i suppose so that i could help, and she was born at about 540pm. she seemed to be having a little trouble, but everthing came out fine. baby goat started nursing in 10 minutes or so, and was getting the hang of walking in an hour more later, john

Great job! Now don't forget to worm the mom now that she has kidded. The birth hormones activate all of the arrested larve in her system, numbers of worms will increase rapidly, and will infect the ground and pasture, where this little doe kid has to grow up! Line up someone to help you with disbudding and get your vaccinations in order also. Vicki

well, now we have two more and everything is even more right with the world. had a little bit of a problem, first the momma didn't seem to want to let them nurse. we fixed that with distractions and bribery, then it seemed that the kids weren't interested. but they got hungry, i suppose, so everybody is doing what they should.
