does anyone have a direct vent furnace ? How do you like it ? Any downfalls ? Thanks

I have owned a direct vent gas furnace in the past and liked it just fine. I hauled LP gas for several years and went on service calls for gas appliances. The majority of problems that I've seen with direct vent gas furnaces, is that the pilot light will blow out more often causing a needed re-light. In a few instances we would place metal window screen around the vent in such a manner as to diffuse the wind, but not in any way blocking proper venting.

Patty! NFP is correct. I think the newer ones have a "pilot striker" that you can light with disassembly of the unit. Makes it much easier to light'm--so does a propane hand held torch! The main problem I found with'm was the spider webs they build inside the main burner orfice as well as the pilot burner. Mud duabers are also known for creatin havoc with'm too. Warm Morning used to be the most common brand around here but since then the dominant one is Empire. I liked the Empire much better- It's much easier to work on! I don't own one but if the occasion presented itself-I would most definately buy an Empire! Matt. 24:44
