First snowflakes of the season are falling as I post this. Rained last night and the mountains tops were white this morning. The ground and temperature is too warm for it to stick but I guess this means that winter is on its way. Picked the last of the tomatoes and peppers earlier, and from the looks of it, probably a good thing I did.

Better cover your tomatos. Im in NE WI and last night a near freezing rain howled through and brought with it the first smell of winter. I guess we are skipping fall this year. I fear that winter is just around the corner.

Marci, We're in So. Central Montana, and have close to a FOOT of snow this morning!!! Power was off for about an hour. First winter storm on the last day of summer!!!! We need the moisture so badly, though, we'll take it any way we can get it. This should clear off quickly, and hopefully we'll have some nice Indian Summer. I still have outdoor work to finish up, potatoes and carrots to dig, some painting to finish, and the lawn needs mowing one more time. Guess I'll go round up some firewood if the power goes off again.

it suddenly feels balmy here in Northern New York .We are used to snow by Halloween , but not this early .
