New Iraqi Oil Refineries WorldNews.com, Fri 22 Sep 2000WN - James Casey. Two oil refineries have been opened by Iraqi oil minister Amir Muhammed Rasheed in the town of Baiji, north of Baghdad. Both refineries have a capacity to process 10,000 bpd of crude.
Officials said that under instructions from President Saddam Hussein the two refineries were among 10 the oil ministry, liaising with other Iraqi ministries, had started to construct in 1998.
The remaining refineries are under construction in other provinces of Iraq.
