OK, second attempt. What happens with your TTL needle if you are measuring and you switch to manual (e.g. closing the aperture)? In my 67 the needle jumps up, out of the frame. I cannot measure with closed aperture. Can you? Without a automatic lens and ergo no simulation coupling (rings!), I get a reading with the needle, but it is about 3 stops off. I ask this again, because I just read a similar problem on medium format forum, with using macro rings.

With my auto lenses, if I use the manual lever, the exposure needle will drop. The correct reading is the one on auto. The manual lever is used on auto lenses when they are disconnected from the body by things like the Helicoid etc. Using the manual lever with an auto lens connected directly to the body with give a false reading. Using the auto lenses with Helicoid and manual lever is the same as using the manual lenses(400, 600, 800 Takumar). In this case, all use stop down metering. BTW, I can meter with closed aperture but it has to satisfy the above requirements. SR

I know that my 67II won't meter stopped down. I called Pentax about it and was told that that's the way it is. IMO, it's a design deficiency. Do a search for "stopped down" and you'll find more information on this topic. I don't remember the details right now.
