How would a Maine Coon kitten cost?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread |
Hello, I live in the Madison, WI (MidWest) area and would like to get a Maine Coon kitten next year. I am NOT interested in the kitten for breeding purposes, I just want a pet to love!!! I am negotiable about coloring and gender-- to me, it is more about personality. Of all of the sites I have been visiting in the past couple weeks, I have not had any luck finding a ballpark range for prices. ( I have also e-mailed a few breeders, but have not had any responses thus far.) If you could give me any information, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and help.

I paid $400 each for two pet quality, pedigreed and registered Main Coon kittens here in Colorado. I believe it is the going rate here in the Rocky Mountain region for pet quality kittens from reputable breeders. Also, I never had trouble getting information about price from breeders here. It was important to them that I knew from the start what to expect before I was "interviewed" as a possible new owner.

We found our Maine Coon kitten at a local Sonic. She cleaned herself up, we got her shots and spayed. She is 1 1/2 years old and is the most lovable kitten in the world, if you're not looking for a show- kitten, perfect cat, there's no reason why you have to pay $400 for one. Look around at animal shelters instead of breeders. More expensive isn't always better!
