What is the average price range for a pet quality Maine Coon Cat? with and without registration papers? I just want to make sure I am not being overcharged? Thank you.

I paid $400 each for two registered Maine Coon kittens from a breeder with a fine reputation. At 12 weeks of age they came with health guarantees, first shots, instructions, etc. I did not receive their registration papers until the breeder had received proof they had been neutered/spayed. I believe registered kittens from breeders in major cities or on both coasts can charge a bit more for pet quality kittens. Mine were purchased in the Rocky Mountain region and the price is considered average here. I know it seems like a lot of money but the end result was exceptionally fine pets with the qualities as near to what I was looking for as possible.

I paid $600.00 for a nine week old Maine Coon kitten with papers. I purchased her from Gentle Giants through Coontastics.

Purchased two registered Maine Coon kittens (littermates) for $450 apiece from the finest breeder I can imagine. All shots, neutering, many toys, cat carriers, WorldsBest Cat Litter, and large bag of Eukanuba kitten chow included. My impression is that prices may be a bit higher here in the Pacific Northwest, but that's a guess. And considering the items included in the deal, it was a bargain.

I recieved mine for free. In fact I had a two silver tabbies and a brown patched classic tabby and white dropped at my home. They were wonderful animals and grew to the proper proportions. I recommend, before spending around $600, unless you are interested in bloodlines, check at the local humane society. There are many more there that will meet their dimises due to euthinasia than in a home.
