Went to a Gospel sing last evening at the "Cape" in Missouri. Saw/listened to the McKameys and Kingsmen. Real good concert with bunches of people in attendance. Learned that Rueben bass singer of the McKameys] had heart cath. Tuesday with 2 stints installed. He's back and doin just fine.

Met a young man this morning at a service startion in Southern Illinois. Lil Dumplin and I had stopped for coffee and I noticed at the gas pumps a fine lookin older GMC pickup, white stepside withthe hood up. Talked to the young guy and was really suprised at how mannerly he was. Ask'm about his truck--it was a 69 Model with an inline 6 cylinder engine. He was pourin oil in it's innards! Said he most burned it up before he could get it off the interstate. Had a little chat with'm, he was from Mississippi and was headin home from a job at a power plant at Coffeen Illinois. Said he was FROZE! I know this is dull readin but I guess you just had to be there to appreciate it. I find ALL people facinating and enjoyable to talk to. Everybody has a story to tell about themselves that is just great to hear. I've found that most of'm don't think their lives are exciting at all but I beg to differ with'm! I'd like to know about everybodys' lives but imagine I'll be walkin the streets of pure gold before that would ever happen.

Election stuff-----! I just wonder what Bible Prophecy has to say about this election stuff and the canidates. I'll not make anymore statements about politics on this forum. I think it's inappropriate to slam either party as it only causes strife between the posters on here---strains friendships to the point of irrevokable damages between friends sometimes. If I have any friends on here I certainly don't want to lose any of'm. I also want no ill will between anybody and myself. Nothing gets settled when anger erupts between friends. So, in ham radio "QSO" signals--I'm SK on politics----[signing off and will not answer any other contacts regarding politics.] Let us concentrate on healing the wounds and tryin to help each other out of some everyday problems they may be having with their homesteads! Hoot, Thanks for your response today Nov11, I agree with you on the election stuff, no matter what we think or which candidate we like THEY are going to do what they want anyway. I have read your responses so many times I can almost tell its you before I get to your name. Do you have a big homestead? I picture your place with a couple of huge gardens, a herd of goats, chickens pigs and rabbits to butcher.And I think you live way out in the country. What part of the country do you live in? I'm pretty new to this forum stuff. Have set on the side and done alot of reading but think I enjoy Hoot and his outlook on life the most. I too love people and am really interested in what they do, what they like and don't, where they're from, how they got there, it could go on and on. Roxanne! Thanks for the kind things you say---but I'm just a big old hillbilly livin in S.E. Illinois, on our 24 acre farm since 78. I no longer have any stock nor gardens. I DID have hogs several years ago- 4 at a time--and a HUGE garden. I'm no longer doin either but will build a fence shortly and a chicken house. I WANT CHICKENS! Eggs and for MEAT! We do live out in the boonies. Down a dead end road, right next to the Little Muddy River bottom ground. We have lakeside property when the backwaters gets out! Our farm is high enough that it doesn't get on it tho. Wild game is everywhere as well as songbirds! Deer ate my last garden up-they eat my small trees and track up the yard. Good thing I don't like deer meat! Songbirds will sing ya to sleep in the summerttime. We started out with just the acreage and built the homestead from scratch. Started with an old single wide trailer and then to a bigger double wide. Old doublewides are double trouble. Finally bought a new Amish built modular in 95 and set here. No comparison between it and the old trailers we owned before and a whole lot cheaper than a "stick built" house. Very energy efficient too. Well, that about covers it all, I think. Oh, BTW, I'm already plannin on a big garden next summer--AND MY CHICKENS! No more hogs, though. Matt. 24:44

Hoot, I agree with you completly. I voted and now am going to the "green party" i.e. green tomatoes (still got plenty),collard greens, spinach and seedling starts on the sun porch in a couple of months. Forgot, I got the worm beds too. Don't know who won, but know who lost- everyone of us that cast a ballot. Next time I'm writing you in.
