My New Job (& how it will affect B&W World)greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo: Creativity, Etc. : One Thread |
Hi Folks,I am proud to announce that I have accepted the position of Managing Editor of Popular Photography. I start on Monday, November 20. It's a big job--I will be responsible for making sure the magazine is published accurately and on schedule--and will be involved in decisions that will affect the editorial balance and (hopefully) be able to do some writing as well.
And I expect to get it all done in time to pick my kids up from daycare.
The bad news is that I will need to step back from Black & White World for a while, at least until I have learned and feel comfortable with my job. Therefore, much of the content of Black & White World is going on hiatus. I will not be updating the site on a regular basis, although I will try to add fresh content every so often. I wish I could continue to be involved in B&W World at the same level as before, but I don't see how I'll have the time.
I also will not have the time to moderate these forums. I have been in touch with individuals and will be handing off moderating responsibilities shortly. I hope to have an announcement tomorrow about a new moderator for several key forums.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for participating, and I encourage you to continue to do so! I am constantly amazed at the level of expertise that can be found here and am heartened that so many people are willing to share their knowledge. I'd start mentioning names but I'm afraid of leaving someone out, so I'd just like to thank those of you who are constantly helping people out.
So thanks to all, and keep talkin'!

Mason...I hope you will have an opportunity to affect changes in some of the content of Pop Photo. It has gained a bit of a bad rep over the years for being too commercial, controlled by the camera mfgs, and redundant (year after year) same old stuff. I hope we can look for some good changes in the future. Much success.

A belated but, "better late than never" answer , congratulations on your new job, I just received a free subscription from Porter's a little while back to your publication.
