I have two barn tom cats. I provide water for them in a beef stew-size tin can, filled from a one-gallon jug. From what I have read putting some vinegar in it won't hurt, but what would be the normal amount for one gallon of water?

Ken, try starting at a tablespoon of cider vinegar per gallon, and eventually work up to an ounce per gallon, if they will drink it. Settle for any amount that they WILL drink, however. This will help to greatly reduce their chances of getting FUS (feline urological syndrome) as they get older. Good luck, Annie in SE OH.

I also sprinkle powdered vitamin C on my cats' food to help acidulate their systems.

Ken, After reading this, I got a little more info from Annie and treated our water dish that the cats and dogs drink from. They took right to it.
