Hi guys, My MV has 2000km now, After a high performance ride which included a top speed try to 285km, I stopped.. Then found an oil leakage from the Oil filter, I checked it and the oil filter was lose, does any one know any reason why an oil filter would get lose other than the guy in service didn’t close it properly? Could there be a blockage in the engine breather? Has anyone face something like this? It’s too scary to have oil on your rear tiers when you are going 285km.

Please read the previous msgs about this on the forum. The great part about the forum is that we have access to older msgs.

Here in the UK oil filters are available with both metric and UNF/C thread and if of the same approximate diameter the threads are very similar, a slight slackness screwing UNF/C to a metric holder being the only clue; a metric filter onto an UNF/C will be obviously too tight. Some UK specification cars, eg Volvo 360, can have either depending on year and one must gauge the filter holder thread before ordering a replacement filter cannister. On my Ducati SPS I've locked the filter using a large jubilee clip round the filter body, any attempt for the filter to unscrew will cause the clip to jam against the crankcase; having never seen the MV filter position perhaps the same can be used or maybe a variation.-- Francis Duguid (francis.duguid@bt.com), 4th.
