3rd place should be the lowest placing possible

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Why do people bother sending in recordings of 13th place and so on? Do they really think their score is something to be recognized? I think any place below 3rd just takes up space and causes longer page loading. Im sure many would agree.

The presence of recordings up to 13th place, and even below, is due to two main reasons: many recs now are so low in the standing 'couse better scores have been submitted in the meantime, and the owners of such recordings haven't deleted 'em yet.

The other reason is an old story here....we've had a long discussion about submissions of cheap recs just to earn a few points, but it drove us nowhere.....

I hope you'll submit quality recs only....

I agree, but this has been brought up before here. The main point was that this way more people can get participated here, also sometimes one of the top 3 records doesn't playback for you.

But what if 500000 emulation friends want to submit at Galaga...That's not going to happen, many people do have standards of some degree when submitting inps.

Nevertheless top 5 scores only would be good. When it comes to leaderboard scores, it's stupid that people get lb points from very poor scores, what's the point of that kind of leaderboard. But that's another issue.

see you later space invader

Would this be a case of those 'stupid old posts nobody reads' being useful? Hm. :)

Please dont tell me we are going to start the elitist comments again, memory concerns are not a major issue anymore, so there should be no problem to anyone if someone posts a score that isn't up to your caliber.
