You guessed the name of a childrens book so maybe you can guess the name of mine? When I was growing up my mom used to read me a story about a little boy who had a imaginary zebra friend, either the zebra or the boy I think was named alex, every time the boy [?]got in trouble he would say the zebra did it[ the zebra pictures were great] and at the end he tells his mom that It was really him being bad. Would love to get this book but mom dosnt remember it and havent been able to find it in book searchs. Any leads would be appreciated.P>S> dont mind the spelling kids took of with my dictonary again.

We have that book. The title is Alexander. It is by Harold Littledale and illustrated by Tom Vroman. It was published by the Parents' Magazine Press and the copyright is 1964 (it may have been reprinted since my copy). The zebra was green, red and white striped and looked a lot like a candycane! And it was the Dad who heard the tale of all the bad that the zebra, Alexander, had done and who actually knew all along that the boy, Chris, was the one who had done all those things. It is a cute story.
