Meduim format

Well its me again with yet another question to baffle you all :). I am moving to meduim format and thus I bought a Yashica D for that purpose. I want to be able to get some info for it and its advantages (I know what you are going to say, but I did not have thousands of dollars to spend on a mamiya or the sort). Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Stop down to f:8 or f:11 and your lens is as good as the latest Hassleblad Planar (at least near the center). Be gentle with your camera, it cannot stand the hard abuse that Rolleis could. Expect many years of pleasure using it.

Great camera. I use a Yashica C all the time. Again, the thing to remember is that you can use the cheapest camera to get the world's greatest photos. It all depends on the photographer.

Enjoy the camera. At f/8 or f/11, they provide wonderful pictures. Check home.att.net/~j..harper/front.html for more details about the YashicaMats. Cheers, DJ.

I did the same thing, picked up a nice Yashica D to try medium format.

The biggest thing is to develop a routine. Since film winding and shutter cocking are two different actions, it is easy to advance a blank frame, or double expose a frame.

The routine I use is to always advance the film immediately after releasing the shutter.

Also tape or glue the X - M lever to X. Moving the self timer with the flash sync in M can lock the shutter. Plus unless you have a source of flash bulbs, you will not be using the M position anyway.

The focusing screen can be vastly improved with one from Maxwell Precision Optics. (404) 224-0095.
