One of my two year old MC's likes to lick and chew the clear plastic wrap on bread....anybody have any ideas on why that would be?

My friend's cat loved bread! She could get him to eat his asthma meds by hiding them in a warm piece of bread that he would gobble up. Maybe the cat actually wants the bread or like my cat, just likes to chew odd textured items, things that don't give up easily, like bread wrappers.

My cat does this - with plastic bags from the grocery store, etc. Just loves to lickj them. I thought it was just some weird trait of his!

We also have a Maine Coon that likes to lick plactic wrap, especially bread wrappers. I think he likes the crinkly sound but don't really know why he does it. The other cats just bite through the wrappers to get what is inside!

My Maine Coon chews on plastic bags. I'm not sure why. Someone told me that she thinks that animal fat or something may be used to produce the bags. Anyway, I guess the only thing to do is to try to keep them away from him. Good luck!

Miss Scarlett O'Kitty, who is a white maine coon, also enjoys licking plastic bags and bubble wrap. She also enjoys laying on pom-poms for some reason. She also thoroughly enjoys Web Van and their bags.

Mozart likes to chew scotch tape or packing tape and licks the gummy part of envelopes whenever he can get his claws on them...

Suzanne: Webvan is a shop-on-line grocer. They deliver, put your groceries up in your cupboards for you and they don't accept tips. Scarlett loves them! She apparently thinks that they are there just to deliver her Fancy Feast and Science Diet.

Our old Maine Coon used to love licking plastic containers. He also loved carrot juice to the point of aggressive behavior when denied.

My 3-year-old MC, Maya, lives for plastic! I have to be very careful any time I have plastic food or product wrappers around, because she will run from the other room to try to get it before I can hide it from her. She also loves the plastic grocery bags, and well... just about anything plastic that she can bite. Some of her favorite toys are the little plastic things you peel off and throw away from a gallon-bottle of water. I recently discovered a company that makes lots of different kinds of little plastic doohicky cat toys that she now swears by. She carries them around in her mouth from room to room, and sometimes brings them to me so I can throw them. Then she'll go running off after them, swatting and batting at them. This is *way* better than the fishing pole toys, because now I can feel good that she's playing and still get some work done! :)
