what happened to the greenhouse effect?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
Kinda wish it would happen!! It started out very warm this morning 55 thunderstorms and alot of rain.Well the temp has dropped to 28 at 7:45 pm wind that is frighting , 10 degree wind chill and now snow. The storm last night was so bad the 2 calves we have spooked took down 1/2 the electic fence and got caught up in it {what a mess}. I am not sure why the solar fence charger is not working,1 of 2 things...it got hit by lighting or it has not had enough sun to charge. The calves have now learned to be friends w/ the pony and goats. The wind is getting worst and is not supposed to let up until the AM,this must be the storm that hit the mid section yesterday. Well maybe it will blow over quicker then they think!

I turned off my solar charger when all the wires were covered in ice. It might be grounding out. I too want to know what happened to this greenhouse effect. I settled in Ky because of mild winters, but it isn't getting any milder. It's stinkin cold. We are ready to go south I think. Is Tennessee warmer, Ken. Land seems to be real reasonable there.

FROM THE NATIONAL NON-WEATHER SERVICE..."The Green House Effect has been cancelled until further notice due to inclement weather conditions. Normal release of toxic gases, atmosphereic warming carbon dioxide and cancer-causing carcinogens will be resumed as quickly as inept government agencies will allow. Please stayed tune to this Forum for further developments. If normal degradation of the environment does not resume before Christmas 2000, then YOU KNOW WHO was responsible."
This is a Public Service Holiday Greeting,

Cindy in Ky-wait a few days.... or even minutes, the weather will change. Probably be stinking hot and humid by Christmas! Saturday we went from 60 to 16(almost-it was 19). Today it's reads 16 which is higher than predicted. You got lower there, didn't you? When I drove down to Ky from PA, in Feburary, Valentine's day, in '92.I left in 20's and snow storm conditions. We were all bundled up in our winter coats.Almost got wiped out by a semi on the snow covered roads.
I get to about the middle of West Virginia, and pull off the interstate for gas & eats. I see people walking around in Tshirts.I thought to myself "Man,these people here sure are a hardy bunch."
Turns out it was actually 70 there. It was colder in my car. We'd brought the cold with us.You might say I warmed up to things here real good, right then & there.
So wait a bit,and it'll turn.

Sharon, I LIKE it stinkin' hot! If it's 100* outside you can find me push mowing my yard or in the garden diggin' in the dirt. I remember this last spring I painted our whole place in March, it was so warm. My face is frozen and I can't laugh, but your post was funny!

This may or may not shed some light here, but here goes anyway. The "greenhouse effect" as it is commonly called is responsible for the raising of earths' ambient temperature( ie ocean temp., land mass temp., etc.) which is in turn linked to more severe weather patterns in general (colder cold, hotter hot, more dramatic changes, severe storms etc.) as well as seemingly abnormal swells in large scale weather patterns as a whole( El nino, La nina , etc.) This in turn can be responsible for a myriad of conditions depending on your position on this tired old planet.
