Do you like winter, or hate it?--Al
-- Al Schroeder (al.schroeder@nashville.com), December 21, 2000
love it...love it...LOVE it!I'm not a triple-digit person, and winters here in California (or where we are, at least) don't have snow to contend with. I love rain. I love fog. I love cold weather.

I grew up in Northern Michigan, so I'd be in big trouble if I didn't like winter. I love how beautiful the woods look in the winter and I like to ski. I grew up knowing how to dress appropriatly, how do safely drive on ice, and how to pack your shoes in newspaper so they don't stay wet. Do I guess I was acclimated early on. I hate being hot too. However, my husband and are have to live in the city farther South now for work reasons. Winter just isn't as pretty in the city (dirty snow, slush) so it doesn't have the same affect on me. And as Al mentioned, places that don't get as much snow don't have the good snow equipment. So the roads are actually worse here than they are up North, go figure...

I love winter since I moved to Southern California. There is nothing like Christmas shopping in shorts and wearing Birkenstocks. Come on out Al and get your well deserved rest. We are hoping to keep it warm and relaxing for you all.

I love winter. It's my favorite season. I love the snow and the cold and everything. It's wonderful!

Winters in Michigan are beautiful. I love how the snow glistens on the ground and how it makes everything look so pure and white. And your never to old to build snowmen or snowforts and blast your husband or the neighbor kids with some mighty big michigan snow balls.I'am a kid at heart no matter how old I get. I'am a true believer in age is just a number. And now that summers here I have my squirt gun all filled and ready to attack..ha.ha Or maybe some balloons filled with water. Love having water balloon fights with the young kids in the neighborhood.

Funny how all the people who love winter currently live in southern california. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and I loved winter. When I was 7, it got cold enough to slush for 20 minutes and I thought it was the greatest thing. Now I live in Denver, CO, or as I like to think of it, exile. I hate winter. Not because it's cold and snowy and it's hard to get around in it and we always seem to have a blizzard when I have made plans, but because the bare trees and the white snow make everything seem so dead. I get depressed, and I can't wait to see the first trees bloom and hear the birds come back and see the butterflies again. That's another thing, every fall and early winter I see a dead butterfly, reminding me of winter's cruel cold grasp. Autumn and spring are the most beautiful times of year. But esp. spring. Pink trees, and baby canada geese, and swams of butterflies.

I HATE WINTER! I live in Chicago and when it gets cold, it get really cold! What makes it even worse, that this is a windy city and when you have high winds and cold air, things just get ridiculous. Then there the snow, blizzards... ugh... I don't think I want to more talk about it... >:-(
